1. Foam Blog;
Picking the right foam is a vitally important part of the overall satisfaction of the finished piece.

Soft foam: I don’t recommend it since it offers little, if any, support.

Medium Hard foam: Still quite soft, yet offers more support.  It you prefer a softer feel, this is the way to go.

Hard foam:  A Very firm, yet comfortable, feel.

Going green in foam:
So many industries have been affected by the “going green” movement, and the upholstery industry is no different. More and more customers are requesting 100% natural Latex. It is a high quality natural latex foam.

My recommendation:
Touch each type of foam, consider your life style and the type of use the piece will get. Make your foam selection with these considerations in mind. When in doubt, go with the hard foam, as all foam softens over time.

2. New Projects Blog;
It seems that project types go in cycles. The current trend I see is upholstered headboards, and upholstered walls.

Both upholstered headboards and upholstered walls are fun and interesting to me as an upholsterer, as well as an amazing way to decorate or redesign a room.

Upholstered walls can be done in many styles. I create panels of the shape and size you desire, to cover the wall area you choose.

The look that can be created by an upholstered wall or an upholstered headboard is quite varied. Fabric selection is a critical aspect of the design. Other possibilities are: an upholstered headboard can be curved and soft for a more romantic look; an upholstered wall can be composed of leather square panels, for a more sleek and modern look.
